This has got to be a joke surely?

This is the type of player we may have taken in a previous year (a player past his best looking for the last pay day) but I would hope that we would have moved far beyond needing to sign players such as these.

Re: Rosicky, Arteta and Flamini to leave Arsenal
Wenger persists with players for far too long...these 3 have been injury prone and flakey yet he has them on the wage bill when he could be paying a decent defensive midfielder a tidy sum to hold his team together...

No more Arsenal has-beens...as Alan Partridge would say "Come on, we're better than that"

;-)

V - Yea I agree it's ridiculous to say you wouldn't take a player from Arsenal or any decent club just because they are preparde to let them go..very cliched. But as for these 3, fuck me, I honestly thought the op was fishing, I even thought that the first 2 might have retired by now.

>>> If we aspire to be 'up there' with Arsenal why on earth would we take players that aren't good enough to get in their squads.

Though I don't rate these three as signings, I completely disagree with the principle. Leicester just won the league with players who aren't good enough to get in their squad. Unless you worship Wenger as infallible, he could in theory make mistakes with players. And also in theory, a player 'not good enough' for their squad could still improve ours.

There's too much focus on where players come from. If they come from Arsenal, or a relegated club, or Fleetwood or Le Havre, they should still be judged on their merits.

would take none of them. they'd be nothing but numbers

I wish we had more academy prospects coming through. I think a good academy should be putting at least 3 into the first team squad every year. and if they're not, why not? It's their job to find, develop and put them on the field so if they're not good enough...answers please.
